Gugulethu Mbatha (better called Gugu-Mbatha-Raw) is a British actress and film star who became famous after she appeared in the BBC series "Doctor Who", a British sci-fi TV show. Gugu earned a significant amount of fame by appearing as Tish Jones, the daughter of the main character, Martha Jones, in the series. Handler then decided to dedicate her entire career in stand-up comedy. The beginning of her career Handler started her professional career in the Oxygen network's all-female cast of the hidden camera/comedy reality TV series Girls Behaving badly. This reality show ran from 2002-2005. The handler started appearing on different shows such like Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began her professional career as a reporter for The Tonight Show. Handler received her first big break in 2006 when she started host her own program on E! The Chelsea Handler Show. The show ran for two seasons. Handler was a performer at the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour at the American embassy the year after. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend & HBO have shown Handler's stand-up performance. In 2010, she was tapped as host of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. It made her the 2nd woman in the history of television, after Roseanne Barr, to host the VMAs.
